How the Alarm System for Rigid Fences Works
Perimeter protection on gratings uses totally passive sensors (SV Lite sensors) connected via plastic optical fiber to the LiteFENCE Lite analyzer.
The sensors detect the oscillations of the fence generated by an attempt to climb over: the oscillations cause variations in the intensity of the light signal inside the sensor, which the analyzer translates into an alarm.
The system does not interfere with the area surrounding the fence, allowing the passage of vehicles and people in the vicinity; in this way, the anti-intrusion protection on the fence can be kept active H24.

This system is used on rigid fences, such as gratings or electro-welded ones, with a minimum height of 145cm. The height of the fence is intended net of any masonry structures on which it is installed.
Unlike flexible fences (which can be protected with the LiteFENCE system) rigid fences do not undergo deformation during an intrusion: their response to an attempt to climb over is an oscillation that starts from the point where the attack is generated and propagates for several meters along the fence itself. In SV Lite sensors, the light passes through two facing fibers: when they undergo a misalignment, the LiteFENCE Lite analyzer generates an alarm. Passive sensors can be spaced up to 40m apart, depending on the type of fence.
Vibrations caused by normal weather conditions, moving vehicles, small animals are not able to generate an oscillation such as to cause an alarm.
The LiteFENCE Lite system, therefore, has excellent resistance against false alarms, is easy to install and does not require complex calibration phases.
It is extremely simple to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor by installing it higher or lower on the fence.
Advantages of the perimeter alarm system for rigid fences
- The SV Lite sensor is completely passive, totally immune to electrical discharges and lightning, protecting the entire system. It is also totally insensitive to electromagnetic interference, suitable even for “difficult” environments.
- Reliable: detects any attempt to climb over while remaining immune to false alarms
- Easy to install: sensitivity is adjusted by varying the height of the SV Lite sensor on the fence; the setup does not require complex calibration operations. The system also tolerates small vegetation well, reducing maintenance costs of the area adjacent to the fence.
- Simple: does not require specific skills.
- Active H24.
Frequently Asked Questions
- On what type of fence can it be installed?
On rigid electro-welded fences and gratings with a height greater than 145cm. We always recommend sending Naria Security photographs of the site to be protected in order to verify feasibility and compatibility with our systems.
- Which alarm control panels is the LiteFENCE Lite analyzer compatible with?
With all alarm control panels. The alarm output is an NC clean contact.
- Can I adjust the sensitivity of the system?
Yes, simply by changing the position of the sensor on the fence: high position = high sensitivity, low position = low sensitivity.
- Where should the SV Lite sensor be positioned on the fence?
In the case of grating fences, the sensor should be positioned in the center of the panel, while in the case of electro-welded fences, it should be positioned on the poles. If in doubt, always contact Naria Security.
- How many meters of fence does each SV Lite sensor protect?
Up to 20m per side in the case of a linear fence; this distance is reduced in the case of corners, fence interruptions, significant differences in level, etc. By sending the technical documentation, Naria Security develops for you, free of charge, the correct sizing of the system.
