How video converters work
The VIDA and VIDEO HD systems consist of a transmitter and a receiver connected through a plastic optical fiber line. The transmitter is connected to the camera through a BNC cable (supplied) and converts the signal from electrical to optical; the receiver has an electrical output (BNC at 75Ohm) to be connected to DVR, monitor or image acquisition system and reconverts the signal from optical to electrical.
Advantages over standard solutions:
- Very easy to install: the solutions are supplied with quick connectors; the fiber must be cut and inserted directly into the connector.
- Eliminate interference on the video signal.
- The plastic optical fiber cable can be laid in the same electrical ducts (even power ducts) because it is a natural insulator.
- The plastic fiber cable is robust and thin: only 2.2mm in diameter.
- When the system uses cameras connected with plastic fiber, it is protected from ground loops and the destructive effects of lightning.
